SSS encourages members to use drop box system, online services in ECQ areas

SSS is advising members, pensioners, covered employers, and the public that walk-in transactions will be suspended in its offices and branches located in areas declared under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from March 29 to April 4, 2021.

The Social Security System (SSS) announced that the mandatory use of payment reference number (PRN) for short-term loan payments was moved to May 1 from its April 1 schedule.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio said the management approved the one-month extension to provide members and employers extra time to create their My.SSS accounts, update contact information, as well as review their loan information.

The Social Security System (SSS) continues to urge members, employers, and the public to transact with its branches using SSS online services and the drop box system as the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus bubble remains under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) starting today, April 5 until April 11, 2021.

President Rodrigo Duterte approved the Inter-Agency Task Force’s recommendation on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to maintain the current community quarantine status in the NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal due to the recent spike of CoVID-19 cases in the said areas.

The Social Security System (SSS) released P10.49 billion under its maternity benefit program with some 290,000 female members as beneficiaries in 2020, almost double the amount paid by the state pension fund in 2016.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio said based on tentative data, the steep jump in benefit releases occurred in 2019 when an additional P3.35 billion in maternity disbursements was recorded, following the implementation of Republic Act 11210 (105-day Expanded Maternity Leave Law).

The Social Security System (SSS) recorded P6.23 billion in disbursements for disability benefits in 2020, lower by 12.6 percent from the previous year. The amount covers payouts to 118,755 beneficiaries.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio attributed the decrease due to the limited mobility of members and pensioners since March 2020, when the government implemented strict community quarantine throughout the country.

The Social Security System (SSS) recorded nearly 60 million transactions in the SSS Mobile App from January to December 2020, four times more than the almost 12 million transactions recorded in the same period in 2019.

SSS President and CEO Aurora C. Ignacio said apart from the continuous development of the SSS Mobile App, one of the key drivers of its usage increase is the need for non-contact service channels in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In line with the declaration of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in the National Capital Region, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, the City of Santiago in Isabela, Quirino, and Abra from April 12 to 30, 2021, all offices and branches of the Social Security System (SSS) located in the covered areas will operate with only skeleton workforce to ensure the continuous delivery of services.

For this reason, SSS is advising its members, pensioners, covered employers, and the public to continue using its online services and drop box system when transacting with its offices and branches as the national government extends quarantine limits to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Social Security System (SSS) achieved a 92.03 percent resolution rate for queries, complaints, and requests, said the Civil Service Commission (CSC), attaining the fifth-highest rank among government agencies in the country.

In its Contact Center ng Bayan (CCB) January to December 2020 Report, CSC said the pension fund resolved 1,166 queries, complaints, and requests out of 1,267 calls endorsed through the CCB from the said period.

The Social Security System (SSS) now offers an online learning platform to all members, employers, and other stakeholders to learn about the benefits and services of the pension fund.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio said the ExpreSSS e-Learning (ExSSSeL) Portal, which SSS launched in November 2020, represents a milestone in the pension fund’s digital transformation efforts.

SSS extends until September 30 the compliance deadline for pensioners to shift to PESONet banks

The Social Security System (SSS) has extended to September 30, 2021 its deadline for pensioners to shift their disbursement accounts to participating banks or e-wallets under the Philippine Electronic Fund Transfer System and Operations Network (PESONet) or Remittance Transfer Companies/Cash Payout Outlets (RTCs/CPOs).
